Governing Councils

Rutgers University-New Brunswick has several other students governing councils that represent their specific school and populations.

The Douglass Governing Council (DGC) is the student government association of Douglass Residential College. Established in 1923, it is not only the oldest, but it is the largest organization on campus. Members of this organization are responsible for addressing any issues in the academic and co-curricular life of the Douglass student.

Engineering Governing CouncilEngineering Governing Council

The Engineering Governing Council (EGC) is the governing body of the Rutgers University School of Engineering in New Brunswick/Piscataway. Working in conjunction with the faculty and administration of the School of Engineering, the EGC strives to represent and further the needs and best interests of its constituency. Additionally, the EGC works in parallel with university administration and other student Governing Associations to help give students at Rutgers University a stronger voice as a whole. 

The EGC: 

  • Acts as the liaison between faculty, administration, alumni, and the students.
  • Distributes funds to Engineering societies and organizations.
  • Represents the interests of all Engineering students with a unified voice in the university community.

Mason Gross Student Government Association logoMason Gross Student Government Association 

The Mason Gross Student Government Association’s (MGSGA) main objectives are to enhance education and opportunity for students of Mason Gross; to promote the arts; to provide an open forum for cross-disciplinary collaboration and communication; and to create a unified and strong voice for the student body internally between faculty and administration and externally in advocacy of itself to Rutgers University as whole. Additionally, the Mason Gross Student Government Association exists in order to support and provide funding for each of the four departments and for recognized organizations and societies. Meetings run weekly on Sunday evenings.

Pharmacy Governing Council logoPharmacy Governing Council

The Pharmacy Governing Council (PGC) serves to enhance the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy’s educational quality and to promote the profession of Pharmacy. PGC serves as a strong, united voice between the faculty and students and fosters a communication channel to promote the interaction of the two pre-professional classes, the four professional classes, and the various organizations and societies within the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy. Meetings are bi-weekly in the Pharmacy Building. Contact the PGC with any questions or concerns.

The Rutgers Business Governing Association (RBGA) is the governing body of the Rutgers Business School (RBS). RBGA is the voice of the Business School students to the rest of the university and acts as a liaison between faculty, administration, and students. RBGA contests for students and their rights and is responsible for addressing both academic and co-curricular issues. RBGA consists of strong, effective leaders who are looking to make a difference in our community.

SEBS governing council logoSEBS Governing Council

The SEBS Governing Council (SGC) serves the student body of the Rutgers School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS). By reaching out to both the community and the faculty/administration, the SGC works to amplify the student voice and represent the needs and concerns of the student body. The council also allocates semesterly operating budgets for student groups affiliated with the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences.
