The application for the Class of 1988 Scholarship is now closed.
The Class of 1988, in honor of its 25th reunion, established a scholarship fund to benefit full-time undergraduate students in their junior or senior year who will demonstrate their commitment to community service. Engaging in community service not only provides students with an opportunity to grow as active members of society, but has the ability to create a long-lasting impact on the community at large.
Scholarship funding is managed through the department of Student Centers and Activities at Rutgers University–New Brunswick, and awards range between $500-$1,000.
Eligible applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Full-time undergraduate student enrolled in Rutgers University-New Brunswick.
- Demonstrate a commitment to community service.
- Currently in their Junior or Senior year.
- Have a cumulative GPA equal to or above 2.75.
Preference will be given to descendants of Rutgers University alumni.
Please note: The applicants should be prepared to submit a written statement (500-1,000+ words) indicating the importance of community service and your commitment in supporting such initiatives. In your evaluation, please consider such categories as:
- Describe the importance of community service and how it plays a role in your own growth and development.
- Demonstrate how you have (and continue to demonstrate) a commitment to community service.
- Reflect on how you will benefit from this scholarship.
